Inside Athena: A Receptionist Spreading Positivity at Worcester Rehab
WORCESTER, M.A. — Tina Livesay said coming to work at Worcester Rehabilitation & Health Care Center was a “perfect fit.”
She joined the team nearly six years ago as a receptionist. Daily, she manages calls coming into the center, questions from residents and their loved ones, and helps out in any way she can. Oftentimes, that can be a listening ear for someone who just needs someone to talk to.
“I really enjoy this job. I enjoy the residents here,” she said.
Livesay is also known for the daily inspirational messages she writes in the lobby. Residents often go to the lobby just to see what the new message is. She wants the lobby to be welcoming to all folks, no matter what religion or background.
“I hope I portray a cheerful, welcoming atmosphere. I’m told by family members that come in and residents that they like coming into my lobby. I decorate for every season,” she said.
When decorating, she finds out what background residents come from so she can include their culture in the display. Livesay wants everyone at Worcester Rehab to feel represented.
Relationships are important to her. She grows close with the residents and their loved ones and can tell when someone needs a pick-me-up.

Livesay is proud to be a part of the Athena team in Massachusetts, noting the approach to helping residents with substance use disorders. Athena was at the forefront of offering care to community members needing assistance with addiction disorders.
The receptionist said sometimes residents just need hope, understanding, and someone to talk to… and is proud to say the Worcester Rehab team provides that.
